VIDEO: How a HUET rolls is key to training fidelity
A traditional HUET is submerged before its buoyancy rolls it. This offers excellent initial training in exit procedures. However, during a controlled ditching, a helicopter would land on the water surface. Then, due to its inherent instability, it can very easily flip over. In this case the cabin is submerged after the helicopter rolls.

The January 2022 issue of Singapore’s ‘Police Life Magazine’ features a two-page spread on their latest training technology; an Underwater Egress Training System (UETS) custom designed by SEFtec to replicate the PK Interceptor boats used by their elite Special Task Squadron.
“I strongly believe that the officers’ confidence is the most crucial element that helps them to be mentally prepared for such situations. This is also a crucial capability that the UETS helps to build through the repeated drills we conduct,” shared SI Adrian.
Enhancing Police Coast Guard Training with the UETS
Station Inspector (SI) Mohamed Joppri Bin Harpawi from PCG remarked: “The UETS has enabled our officers to carry out drills in a realistic setting, greatly enhancing our training methodology as our officers get to perfect their drills in responding to probable exigencies.”
SI Alen Ho from PCG echoed his colleague’s comments, saying: “The UETS equips officers with emergency response knowledge and skills required in the event of a boat capsize situation. It provides a realistic training platform to prepare officers on the egress drill as well as to develop officers’ confidence.”
